How to find where a puzzle piece goes
Every puzzler knows the feeling: one piece, no idea where it goes. Here's how to read it like a clue.
Read the piece
Look for anything printed on it: a line, a texture, a sliver of a second colour, part of a letter. Note the direction of any line — it tells you how the piece is rotated.
Check its shape
Count knobs and holes. A straight side means it's on the border. Compare the shape to gaps around the area you think it belongs to.
Match it on the box
Hold the piece next to the box picture and scan the picture in strips, row by row, looking for that exact colour mix. Thinking in rows and columns stops your eyes jumping around.
Let PuzzlePal point to the spot
Photograph the box once, then snap the piece with your phone. PuzzlePal compares the piece to the picture and highlights the most likely spot with its row and column. It's a best guess: distinctive pieces are matched well, while plain one-colour pieces are harder.
